A kardhalat is jobb elkerülni

A kardhalat is sikerült túlhalászni, ezt mutatja be az óceánok élővilágát védő nonprofit szervezet, az Oceana romantikus riportfilmje.

A film a kis tételben, saját és helyi fogyasztásra halászó emberek tapasztalatain keresztül mutatja be a Földközi-tengeri kardhal (Xiphias gladius) populáció megváltozását, annak drámai csökkenését.

A Messinai szoros halászai -összesen 10 bárka- több generáció óta, családi vállalkozások keretein belül dolgoznak, ők mesélik el, mennyivel kevesebb és egyre kisebb méretű kardhalakat lehet csak találni a szabályozatlan ipari halászás miatt. Utóbbi 12 574 halászhajót jelent, amelyek korlátlanul szedhetik össze a kardhalakat. A lehalászott állatok 75%-a 10 kg alatti, ami azt jelenti, hogy még ivarérett kor elérése előtt véget ér pályafutása, ezzel sem biztosítva utánpótlást.
