529 nap után került meg egy szigeten elkóborolt tacskó – videó

A híradások szerint épen és egészségen bukkant fel újra az a Valerie nevű kistestű tacskó kutya, amely még 2023 novemberében kóborolt el gazdáitól az ausztráliai Kenguru-szigeten. Sokáig hiába kutattak utána, de most úgy tűnik, az állat egyáltalán nem sínylette meg a számára szokatlan vadon körülményeit.

529 nap után meglett Valerie, a törpe tacskó kutya, aki szinte hihetetlen módon nem csak túlélte, hanem jó kondícióban vészelte át a viszonylag érintetlen természet viszontagságait a Kenguru-szigeten – jelentette a Kangala Wildlife Rescue mentőcsoport azt követően, hogy a kutya váratlanul belesétált egyik csapdájukba, és ezzel véget ért életének alighanem legnagyobb kalandja.

Valerie története valóban elképesztő: gazdái Georgia Gardner és Josh Fishlock, egy új-dél-walesi házaspár, akik épp a Stokes-öbölben vakációztak a Kenguru-sziget északi részén, amikor a kutya gondolt egyet, és faképnél hagyva őket, felfedezőútra indult. 

Az elkóborolt kutyát önkéntesek és állatmentő szervezetek heteken át keresték az Ausztrália déli vizeiben található szigeten, ám nem akadtak rá. 

A sziget egyáltalán nem elhagyatott, vannak állandó lakosai és kedvelt pihenőövezetei, ám a Szingapúrnál hatszor nagyobb földdarab természeti környezete jórészt érintetlen, időjárási viszontagságai komoly veszélybe sodorhatták a kistestű állatot.

Ám Valerie ennek ellenére épségben került elő kb. másfél év után. Mint a sziget egyik lakosa elmondta: mindenkit váratlanul ért Valerie felbukkanása, hiszen senki nem számított rá, hogy több mint 500 napot túlélhetett a szigeten, sőt, láthatóan egészséges is maradt.

Valerie keresésére nagyjából 1000 óra önkéntes munkát fordítottak, és összesen több mint 5000 km-et tettek meg a szigeten az állatmentők a nyomai után kutatva.
