Joachim Löw szövetségi kapitány bizalmat szavazott a csapatkapitány Bastian Schweinsteigernek is annak ellenére, hogy sérülés miatt március óta nem lépett pályára. A szakember olyan rutinos játékosokra is számít, mint a 127-szeres válogatott Lukas Podolski vagy éppen Mario Gomez.

A kapitány ugyanakkor több fiatalt is behívott a keretbe, lehetőséget kap a bizonyításra mások mellett Joshua Kimmich, Julian Weigl és Leroy Sané is. A végleges keretet május 31-ig kell kijelölnie Löwnek, együttese május 29-én Augsburgban a szlovákokkal, június 4-Gelsenkirchenben pedig a magyarokkal játszik felkészülési mérkőzést.
