Somlyody, Laszlo

Engineer

He was born in 1943. He graduated with a degree in engineering in 1967 at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Budapest University of Technology and six years later he obtained his doctorate. In 1978 he obtained a postgraduate degree in technological sciences, the title of his thesis being, (The study of waste water mingling in flowing waters with the introduction of the notion of material streamline), later he obtained a doctor of the academy degree (Water quality control of shallow lakes). He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) and a number of international organisations (IAHR, IAHS, WEF, IAWQ, IWA as well as being the founder and leader of the Water Management Research Group of HAS.
