His precise field of research is solid-state physics and optics. In his research work he has studied the microscopic characteristics of solid-state materials and fluids with the help of neutron radiation and light, primarily laser light. He has dealt with the creation and application of new-types of lasers especially for medical, technological and measurement purposes. Most recently, he has been working on developing a new type of extreme resolution microscope and its application in surface physics.
