László Pap is a university professor; he heads the Communication Engineering Department of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and IT of the Budapest University of Technology and Economic Sciences. He is also deputy-rector of the university. For several decades he has taught, amongst other subjects, electronic circuits, modern modulation techniques and their circuits and the theory of telecommunication. He gives lectures at Veszprém University and at Klagenfurt University. He holds several important professional and scientific offices including the deputy presidency of the Scientific Association of Communication Technology, the presidency of the World Association of Hungarian Engineers and Architects and the presidency of the Telecommunication Systems Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). He is also a member of the supervisory board of MATÁV, the Hungarian Space Research Council, and of the board of trustees of the Széchenyi Professors' Scholarship. In 1997 he was awarded the Eötvös Prize and in 1999 the Széchenyi Award.
